B1 - Practice the future tense with 'Count on Me' by Bruno Mars

Hello, my lovely people!

This week I am bringing you a special activity that combines music and learning. We are going to review and reinforce the use of will while enjoying the inspiring song “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars, from the album Doo-Wops & Hooligans.

What will you practise?

• The use of will in a real context.
• Listening for general meaning before focusing on individual words.
• Identifying specific language while listening.
• Using English to talk about friendship and support.

🎧 First listen – get the general idea

Listen to the song once without trying to complete the gaps. Do not worry if you do not understand every word.

Think about these questions: What is the general message of the song? What kind of relationship does it describe? What mood or feeling does the song create?

🎵 Second listen – focus on the language:

Now listen again and complete the gaps with the correct forms using will.

Pay attention to what you hear, but also to the subject and the meaning of the sentence. When you finish, check your answers.

🔎 After checking your answers: choose two or three examples with will from the activity.

Think about the context: Who is speaking? What is the speaker saying they will do? What idea does will express in each example?

🎧 One more listen – enjoy the whole song

Listen once more without thinking about the gaps. Do you understand the message more clearly now? Notice how the examples with will contribute to the meaning of the song.

💬 Final challenge: think about a friend or someone important to you. Write two sentences about something you will do for that person when they need your help.

You can start like this:
I will always help my friend when...
If my friend needs me, I will...
